I forgot to bring lunch (too lazy to make it) again, and I was getting sick of paying $7 for a mediocre sandwich on campus, so I was trying to figure out my options for lunch. I checked out google maps and saw that Bernie's was only a 10 minute walk away, so I decided that I was just going to try that for lunch. Luckily it was the perfect temperature outside, no sweating involved in this walk :)
Bernie's is a gourmet sandwich shop right outside of Mason on Chain Bridge Road and it is always packed for lunch during the week.
I ordered the Italian Cold Cut $7.49 (Cappicola Ham, Hard Salami, Peppered Italian Ham, provolone, lettuce, tomato, sweet peppers, oil & vinegar on French). This sandwich was huge! I had half for lunch and half for dinner. My only complaints were the sweet peppers, I just don't like them.
My coworker got the Meatloaf Sandwich $6.99 (meatloaf and ketchup) and he very much enjoyed his sandwich. He describes it as "hearty and flavorful." (also the pickle should be the other way so it is a happy face since the sandwich is so tasty)
I was staring when I got there, and I thought for the purpose of blogging I would try a bag of chips (not bc I am an impulse buyer or anything). These were good, tasted like any other kettle chips I have had.
I got tea because it was warm outside and I was parched. This tea was not bad-I could barely tell there was any mint in it, but probably not worth whatever price I paid for it.
My need to blog and share with all my readers all aspects of this Deli led me to also purchase a blondie. This was not bad at all, nothing too memorable though.
I have been here once before and I got the Grilled Chicken with Avocado sandwich which was good.
This was a very satisfying meal, and I definitely got my money's worth out of it. The sandwiches are huge, so I did not need to buy all of those extras. This is my new go-to place when I forget my lunch at work.
