RedRocks Pizza Napoletana

For my birthday dinner I went to RedRocks Pizza Napoletana in Old Town Alexandria with my Mom, Jeff and my friend Jessie.

For starters we ordered the Goat Cheese appetizer with a fig jam (pretty sure this is what it is, not an item on their online menu). This was delicious spread on the bread. It never ceases to amaze me the combinations you can put with cheese (ie fig and goat cheese, gouda and honey) that taste amazing together.
Jeff ordered the Pepperoni with tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella $11.50. He enjoyed his pizza, I took a piece of pepperoni off of it and it was delicious as far as pepperoni goes.
Next, Jessie and I split 2 pizzas (my mom just ate a slice from everyone's) Boar Sausage with smoked buffalo mozzarella, roasted artichokes, parsley $14.00. Delicious, the boar sausage was amazing and the fresh artichokes were a pleasant twist.
The other was Roasted Eggplant with mozzarella di bufala, roasted peppers, basil, grana cheese $13.00. Another winning combo-the eggplant could not have been cooked more perfectly. I usually don't like white pizzas, but both the Boar Sausage and Roasted Eggplant were delicious without the sauce.
This is the second time I have been here. I actually didnt think I would vernture here again because of the crappy service and lackluster pizza. It was a practically empty restaurant and they put us in a small upstairs room with a family with a whole bunch of kids. Normally that would not have bothered me as I have a family with a bunch of young children that I adore but being in a tiny space, having the waitress ignore us when it was empty downstairs and a whole bunch of screaming children was not a pleasant experience. Those times I got the Margherita served with tomato sauce, mozzarella di bufala, basil $12.00 and the Salsiccia served with tomato, fresh mozzarella, house-made Italian sausage, black olives $12.50 and both were ok.  <----Serves as review for first trip

This trip however was a lot more pleasant. Service and pizza were both good. That being said, while I did enjoy all of my pizzas, I am not the biggest fan of the crust here. Something about the texture just threw me off. In the pictures you can see the texture and maybe compare it to this texture in which I love. Their toppings were phenomenal though. Anyways if you are in the area looking for a bite to eat then this place is worth a visit.

Now I am ready for some pizza, your pictures as well as descriptions makes me wish that RedRocks was right around the corner. I have never had a pizza with boar sausage, but now I am determined to have one. Sorry the crust was not to your liking but I am glad your second trip was more favorable.
